Abstract
One late afternoon in the spring of 1989, I paid a social call on Dr. Koh Hirasawa (
) at his Kyoto office where I enjoyed listening to his reminiscences of his years in Niigata as a young anatomist sixty some years ago. He then recalled those three exciting years of research (1927–30) he spent abroad, especially those studies in Germany on pyramidal and extrapyramidal nervous systems, and his later years at Kyoto University where he had held a professorship for seventeen years including six years as a president until his retirement in 1963. The meeting was totally relaxed and very pleasant.
