Lipidosis and Mucopolysaccharidosis of the Cornea Due to Cationic Amphiphilic Drugs, Rat

Part of the book series: Monographs on Pathology of Laboratory Animals ((LABORATORY))

Abstract

Drug-induced lipidosis and mucopolysaccharidosis in the cornea of rats have not been reported to be recognizable by the naked eye. Some lipidosis-inducing drugs (chlorphenter-mine, chloroquine, tilorone) cause an anterior polar cataract of the lens, which is readily visible to the unaided eye (Drenckhahn 1978; D.M.Beier and R. Lüllmann-Rauch, to be published).
