Zusammenfassung
Schock wird heute als klinisches Syndrom definiert, das aus einer unzureichenden Perfusion und Sauerstoffversorgung lebenswichtiger Organe resultiert. Konzepte, die Schock als einfache Folge von Hypotonie und Hypovolämie erklärten, wurden weitgehend überarbeitet. Die Mechanismen, mit denen eine inadäquate Sauerstoffversorgung kompensiert werden kann, sind Hyperventilation, Erhöhung des Sympathikotonus mit Steigerung der Herzfrequenz und myokardialen Kontraktilität sowie Vasokonstriktion und Flüssigkeitsverschie-bungen von extra- nach intravasal.
