Zusammenfassung
Das Anliegen dieses Aufsatzes besteht weder darin, neue Aspekte zum Verständnis von Männlichkeit zu entwickeln, noch darin, eine systematischen Annäherung an dieses Thema vorzunehmen (dazu habe ich früher Stellung genommen, s. May 1980). Vielmehr will ich von einigen mehr oder weniger miteinander verbundenen Beobachtungen berichten, die sich mit dem Problem der Entwicklung einer psychoanalytischen Theorie der Männlichkeit auseinandersetzen. Dabei möchte ich den besonderen Schwerpunkt auf zwei ihrer Unterthemen lenken, nämlich auf das Konzept der Identität und das der Geschlechtsidentität.
