Abstract

In view of all the events since 1986, it is interesting to follow the evolution of radiation safety standards in the USSR. Analyses of all pertinent documents and directives that have been published in the last 30 years, and especially those of the post-Chernobyl era, show that there are still no scientifically grounded measures to protect the population from radiation exposure.

“It is fruitless in years of chaos to seek a blessed end. Some are doomed to punish others and to suffer remorse — for the others — there is Golgotha.”

B.Pasternak From the poem “Lieutenant Schmidt”
