Abstract

After an introduction to different techniques of producing the conventional particle beams for the production of exotic atoms, the difficulties inherent in improving them are worked out Several alternative approaches which have been used in the past are presented. New considerations and experimental investigations of the production of ultraslow particle beams are finally described.
