Zusammenfassung
Obwohl pro Jahr etwa 5 Mio. Kontrastmittelanwendungen alleine in der Bundesrepublik durchgeführt werden, ist die Zahl der schweren, lebensbedrohlichen Zwischenfälle ausgeprochen gering. Nach der allgemeinen Literatur muß mit einem schweren Zwischenfall auf 40 000 Anwendungen gerechnet werden. Die Zahl der tödlichen Zwischenfälle ist wiederum nur ein Bruchteil davon [5]. Man geht in der Bundesrepublik von etwa 0,007% aller Kontrastmittelanwendungen aus. Dabei ist zu berücksichtigen, daß viele schwere Reaktionen durch frühzeitige Erkennung und rechtzeitige, adäquate Behandlung einen günstigen Ausgang auch bei schwersten Zwischenfällen haben können.
