Bioactive Polyethers

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Bioorganic Marine Chemistry ((BMC,volume 4))

Abstract

Marine organisms produce novel molecules with remarkable biological activities. Among them, compounds with long carbon chains have become research objectives for chemists and biologists. These molecules, consisting of a long carbon backbone, are usually functionalized with a large number of oxygen atoms, in the form of hydroxyl, ether, and carbonyl groups. This chapter reviews recent developments of these marine-derived bioactive long carbon chain polyethers.
