Experimental Vibrational Characteristics of the Hydrogen Bond

  • Chapter
Intermolecular Forces

Abstract

As shown in several books and reviews, vibrational spectroscopy, especially infrared spectroscopy is one of the powerful techniques for hydrogen bond investigations. The aim of this chapter is not to discuss all the vibrational characteristics of the hydrogen bonds, but to make a bridge between Chap. V (A. Ceulemans, vibrational aspects of the hydrogen bond) and the experimental characteristics, more specifically the structure of the vs stretching band.
