Abstract
The decision to pursue a wait-and-see policy in cases of incidental carcinoma of the prostate depends upon two parameters: the patient’s age at diagnosis and the tumor’s biological activity. Regarding the former, one finds that the older the patient, the less likely he is to die as a result of tumor-related factors. We presently lack diagnostic means for assessing with certainty the growth rate of the tumor.
