Zusammenfassung

Unter normalen Umständen sorgt die Harnleitermündung dafür, daß der Urin in the Blase abfließt und daß — insbesondere bei der Miktion — ein Rückfluß des Urins in den Harnleiter vermieden wird. Dadurch werden die Nieren vor dem hohen Blaseninnendruck geschützt und eine Infektion durch infizierten Blasenurin vermieden. Wenn diese Ventilwirkung nicht funktionsfähig ist, können Harnwegsinfektionen mit nachfolgender Pyelonephritis auftreten. Die Pyelonephritis entsteht, abgesehen von wenigen Ausnahmen (akut, chronisch oder abgeheilt), aus einem vesikoureteralen Reflux.
