Abstract

In this chapter we shall deal with NMR spectroscopy of biological macro-molecules, which is at present the most important application of biological NMR besides in vivo spectroscopy. The main problem in this case is frequently the assignment of the resonance lines, because in general with an increasing number of atoms that form a molecule the complexity of the NMR spectrum also increases. Furthermore, the linewidth of the resonance absorption lines increases with increasing molecular weight and the spectral resolution and the sensitivity are therefore markedly reduced.
