Abstract
In order to meet the prescribed cleaning objectives, it is necessary to eliminate residual materials from treatment plant outlet flows. Such residual materials include dissolved biologically degradable materials, difficult and non-degradable substances, compounds of nitrogen and phosphorous as well as suspended particles. In order to eliminate these residuals, a number of different mechanical, physico-chemical and biological processes, and combinations thereof, can be used (filtration, biologically intensified filtration, flocculation filtration, nitrification etc.). The use of the biologically intensified flocculation filtration process (dry filtration) combines the efficient removal of suspended particles with biological activities and chemical-physical processes. This paper describes the process with results and experience to date.
