The Dynamical Structure Factor of Rodlike Polymers in the Isotropic Phase

Abstract

The self-diffusivities of rodlike polymers in the semidilute regime are estimated as [1]
$${{D}_{\parallel }} \simeq {{D}_{{\parallel 0}}}, {{D}_{ \bot }} \simeq 0, {{D}_{r}} \simeq {{D}_{{r0}}}/[1 + \beta {{(\nu {{L}^{3}})}^{2}}]$$

where D and D are respectively the lengthways and sideways translational diffusion coefficients of a rod, D r is the rotational one, subscript 0 of D ‖0, and D r0 stands for zero polymer concentration, v is the number concentration, and L the rod length. Here β is an empirical constant of the order of 10−3.
