Psoriasis ist eine chronische, durch charakteristische schuppende Herde gekennzeichnete exanthematische Krankheit mit ererbtem Prädispositionsfaktor, die durch epidermale Hyperproliferation unbekannter Ursache bedingt ist; Psoriasis verläuft zumeist harmlos, ist aber in seltenen Fällen von schweren extrakutanen Symptomen begleitet.
