The short term assay of granulo-monocytic colonies in semi-solid media is the conventional and most commonly used test for graft quality. It applies for mobilized peripheral stem cells (PBSC) essentially in the same way as for bone marrow cells, except from slower growth kinetics of the colonies, which leeds to optimal conditions of evaluation at 12–14 days after stimulation, in comparison to one week in bone marrow cells.
