Abstract

Towards the end of the 1970s two major scientific proposals were discussed and prepared in the Federal Republic of Germany: DEKORP (Deutsches Kontinentales Reflexionsseismisches Programm) and KTB ( =Kontinentales Tiefbohrprogramm der Bundesrepublik Deutschland). Both projects were further developed in the following years, and feasibility studies were performed in the early 1980s.
