Zusammenfassung
Die Qualität von transrektalen Ultraschalluntersuchungen der Prostata ist in den letzten Jahren so weit verbessert worden, daß der erfahrene Untersueher heute krankhafte Veränderungen der Prostata mit größerer Sicherheit beurteilen kann. Dabei ist die Kenntnis der zonalen innerprostatischen Topographie, wie sie von McNeal bereits 1969 und in den folgenden Jahren erarbeitet wurde, von großer Bedeutung. Mit den modernen hochauflösenden Schallköpfen (um 7 MHz) ist es möglich, diese zonale Anatomie der Prostata bildlich darzustellen:
