Abstract
The analysis and discussion of this subject, although difficult, is absolutely necessary; today the term “eugenics” is discussed in scientific literature and even more in public in connection with genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis. The original concept of “eugenics” is given a new interpretation, and human geneticists are often called the “new eugenicists”. Politicians, sociologists and journalists in political assemblies, pseudoscientific lectures and particularly in newspaper articles use, mostly in a polemic manner, the misconceptions of the past under the name of “eugenics”. Today, they randomly accuse human geneticists, who work as medical doctors for the well-being of the public, of being guilty of the same or at least similar intentions.
