Abstract

As mentioned previously, a rigid thoracoscope with a cold light source is used in most cases. Its design must satisfy two requirements: (1) to make high-quality visual exploration and faultless photographic or video documentation, and (2) to facilitate multiple, large biopsies of sufficient size to ensure a definitive histopathologic diagnosis, while accomodating electrocautery and/or YAG laser cautery when necessary.
