Zusammenfassung

Der Dünndarm ist unter funktionellen Aspekten ein komplexes Organ: Er steht im Dienste der Digestion und Resorption. Er ist ein permanent exponiertes immunologisches Kontaktorgan [Gut-Associated Lymphoid Tissue (GALT)] und insofern von entscheidender Bedeutung für die Entwicklung und Aufrechterhaltung der immunologischen Homöostase des Organismus. Der Dünndarm ist schließlich ein endokrines Organ [1, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 23, 26, 31].
