Abstract
The focus of this chapter is on neurophysiological indices of developmental psychopathology. The scope of the discussion will be limited to neurophysiology as measured by the event-related brain potential (ERP) and will not include consideration of other neurophysiological techniques which have also been employed in the study of cognition, development, and psychopathology. The discussion will be largely theoretical insofar as general issues related to the study of ERPs and developmental psychopathology will be discussed. Two early childhood disorders, infantile autism and receptive developmental language disorder (R-DLD), will be discussed as a way of exemplifying pertinent issues.
