Abstract
The medial axis transform is used frequently in the segmentation of binary images, where it is necessary, to seperate unconnected objects into different classes. The instable behavior of the medial axis transform, as known in the literatur, makes the application of this technique more difficult. A metrical regularization of the transform was proposed in [3], in which two parameters were contained. The suitable determination of the both parameters, as in the regularization of many ill-posed problems, depends on the context, so that a general theory on the choice of the parameters is impossible.
