Abstract
SU(2)LxU(1)YxŨ(1) Modelsmodels have received considerable attention during the last several years [1]. They often arise as the low energy limit of interesting GUT and superstring theories. It is understood that gluons and quarks and leptons of the three generations have the same transformation properties under SU(2)LxU(1)Y as in the standard model (SM). There may exist additional exotic fields. In the cases of interest there exists an orthogonality constraint between the Ũ(1) and U(1)Y quantum numbers: this can be traced to the fact that such models are descendants of gauge theories with simple Lie groups.
