Abstract
The analysis of the transformation sector includes all the sub-sectors listed in the Energy Statistics Yearbook of EUROSTAT. Insofar as national data were available, the analysis includes combined heat and power production (CHP) in the public as well as in the industrial sector. The net energy output was selected as the indicator for economic activity. The influence of structural changes on specific energy consumption was taken into account at two different levels of aggregation. First the transformation sector was subdivided into five sub-sectors, and in a second step the electric power production was further subdivided into three different technologies.
