Prophylaxe der Pneumocystis carinii Pneumonie bei Aids-Patienten

Zusammenfassung

Da 10–15% aller HIV-infizierten Patienten, die an einer Pneumocystis carinii Pneumonie (PcP) erkranken, an der ersten Episode dieser opportunistischen Infektion auch heute noch versterben und ein großer Teil der erfolgreich Behandelten einen Rückfall der Pneumonie erleiden wird, an der wiederum ein Teil der Patienten verstirbt, stellte die wirksame Prophylaxe der PcP einen echten medizinischen Fortschritt dar.
