Interventional Procedure in Angioscopy

  • Andreas Beck

Since Dotter and Judkins first introduced vascular dilatation, numerous attempts have been made to perform angioplasty in vivo and in vitro. Macroscopic as well as microscopic control could be performed only on postmortem tissue as PTA had not been employed. This problem was overcome by reducing the size of angioscopes to catheter sizes, and direct-control PTA by angioscopy became possible.
