Abstract

The Canadian Helicopter Integrated Navigation System (HINS), designed for an ASW helicopter, is described. The HINS Advanced Development Model is configured with an F-cubed RUG inertiaI navigator, GPS receiver and Doppler velocity sensor, and integrated using multiple Kalman filters and redundancy management algorithms. The system offers high levels of performance, fault tolerance and reliability. Performance characteristics are described, as are possible future developments and applications of the technology.
