Zusammenfassung
Beim Hirnödem kommt es nach dem Erlöschen der funktionellen Aktivität („electric failure“) zu einer Membranstörung der Zelle mit Elektrolytverschiebung und Gliaschwellung (“ion pump failure”). Die theoretische Überlegung liegt nahe, den protektiven Effekt von membranstabilisierenden Substanzen (z.B. Lidocain) beim ödem der Astroglia zu nutzen: eine medikamentöse Hirnprotektion bei schon eingetretenen, morphologischen Störungen des Neurons. Diese Fragestellung wurde am Modell des cytotoxischen Hirnödems überprüft.
