Abstract
Heart transplantation has become a therapeutic option for patients with endstage heart disease. With the advances in the detection of early rejection using transvenous biopsy in 1973 and the introduction of cyclosporin in 1980, the results of cardiac transplantation improved dramatically. The current 1-year survival is 78.9%, 76.6% for 5 years [1].
