Interdependencies: The Stress-Health Relationship
This chapter summarizes the foregoing discussion and presents explanatory models of the genesis and development of social, psychological, and somatic disorders and interrelates them. Instances of overlap and areas of convergence will be of particular interest because they indicate possible starting points for comprehensive interdisciplinary approaches. Although the different forms of disorders cannot be subsumed under one all-embracing theory, the general theoretical and methodological aspects they may have in common, and the actual connections between the various theories should be clearly identified in order to insure an efficient cooperation of the various scientific disciplines involved.
