Ovarian Tumours in Laboratory and Domestic Animals

In contrast with the relatively high incidence of human ovarian tumours, spontaneous tumours occur seldom in the ovaries of other mammals. However, despite their relative rarity, ovarian neoplasms of common laboratory and domestic animals have received considerable attention and have been investigated from many aspects in an attempt to develop laboratory models for the study of etiology, histogenesis and the response to therapy of equivalent human tumours. Experimental tumours can be induced readily in the ovaries by several methods and are even more suitable for laboratory studies.
