Abstract
This Division of GM is in the automatic transmission business for large on-highway trucks and buses, off-highway work vehicles, and military tanks and trucks. These products are some of the most sophisticated large mechanical components produced today. Sometimes they are affectionately called 500 lb. watches. As such, there is always a trade-off between the product design requirements versus reliability, durability, and selling price. New programs are continually being evaluated in our Engineering Departments. The program goals are always quite simple and direct -- world class quality, world class competitiveness, and flexibility in manufacturing ∓ assembly.
