Zusammenfassung
Nach dem 2. Weltkrieg wurde eine relativ rasche Zunahme koronarer Herzkrankheiten (KHK) registriert, die in den USA in den 40er Jahren begann und dort gegen Ende der 60er Jahre ihren Höhepunkt erreichte. Eine ähnliche Zunahme der KHK war etwas später in Westeuropa, noch später in Osteuropa zu verzeichnen. Während der letzten Jahre war sie in Polen, Rumänien und Ungarn besonders ausgeprägt, wenn man den Statistiken trauen kann. In den USA dagegen zeichnete sich seit Ende der 60er Jahre bereits wieder ein beachtlicher Rückgang KHK ab (Uemura 1985; Stern 1979) (Tabellen 1 und 2).
