Abstract

Only about 3% of the enormous amounts of water existing on earth are suitable for drinking. The remaining 97% must presently be discounted as drinking water due to the high content of salt. Nevertheless, about 1 million cubic meters of water are available for every person on earth, not counting animals and plants.
