Abstract
The subject of this book is the modelling of an estuarine ecosystem that is not always completely covered with water: a tidal flat estuary. These tidal flats make it a rather special instance of a marine ecosystem, since this feature exposes large parts of the benthic system to direct sunlight and makes it accessible to non-diving predators, such as waders.
