Abstract

The pathogenesis of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (ANF) is still unknown, in spite of intense studies. Furthermore, few papers have described the histology of this condition at the early stage [1]. To elucidate the early pathological processes leading to ANF, we report here a histological study of 16 core biopsy specimens derived from femoral heads at the silent stage of ANF.
