Zusammenfassung

Die Bezeichnung Kardia für den „Magenmund“ geht auf Galen zurück. Er formulierte die Bezeichnung „Pars Cardiaca Ventriculi“. Maligne Tumoren in dieser Region werden entsprechend als Kardiakarzinome bezeichnet. Dieser Begriff ist jedoch nicht eindeutig, wie man annehmen könnte [8,9]. Die verschiedensten Definitionen erinnern eher an eine babylonische Sprachverwirrung, denn an eine klare Aussage [20, 25]. Dies entspricht der Lage der Kardia an der Grenze zwischen Speiseröhre und Magen, einer „Grauzone“ wie bei einer politischen Grenze [11].
