Abstract
No achievement of technology so far has been a greater challenge to our ethical and moral values than that posed by genetic engineering. The risk of its techniques not only destroying the biological balance on our planet, but also the social and ethic foundations of our society, cannot be belittled. On the other hand, the results of this research area are associated with justified hopes for a satisfactory solution to a number of medical, social and biological problems of our time.
