Abstract

In this experiment the student will be introduced to the ionic binding of an enzyme to a carrier (cf. Sect. 2.2). It will be shown that the coupling of the enzyme to one of the commercially available ion exchangers is a simple procedure, and that with catalase a high degree of efficiency can be achieved. It will also be shown that bonds between the enzyme and its carrier can be ruptured by other ions.
