Zusammenfassung

Schmerzfreies Operieren am Auge wurde erst 1884 durch den Ophthalmochirurgen Karl KOLLER (33) möglich, der entdeckte, daß Kokainhydrochlorid bei lokaler Anwendung in Form von Tropfen im Bereich des äußeren Auges eine Anästhesie herbeiführte, die Operationen am Bulbus oculi gestattete. Die Regionalanästhesie setzt geeignete langwirkende Anästhetika (59) voraus, die heute zur Verfügung stehen. Obwohl die Vorteile der Allgemeinanästhesie mittels Intubationsnarkose sowohl für Augenarzt als auch Anästhesist bestechend sind, bleibt vor jeder Operation individuell zu klären,

  • ob augenärztlicherseits die Operation in Lokalanästhesie durchgeführt werden kann,

  • in welcher Weise die augenseitigen Komplikationen in Lokalanästhesie verringert werden können,

  • in welcher Weise die allgemeinen anästhesiologischen Komplikationen der Lokalanästhesie vermieden werden können.
