Abstract
The Environment and Gene Technology Act (Act no. 288) was passed by the Danish Folketing on June 4th, 1986, following 3–4 years of intensive public debate of the issues (1). The law is administered by the Minister of the Environment, and is enforced through the National Food Agency.
