Abstract

An analogue to the gauge-Independent definition of the charge in QED is the mass-shell momentum scheme, where scattering of a test fermion with mass M → ∞ is considered. Different applications include also gauge-independent grand unification, where a remarkable lowering of the lifetime of the proton is found.
