Summary
In organic cultivated soils common nitrogen-fixing bacteria like Azotobacter appeared in higher densities than Azospirillum. Establishment of inoculated Azospirillum strains S1 and S12A were successful with wheat. The use of organic manure A supported establishment of A. lipoferum S1. To investigate the role of cellulytic microorganisms (e.g. Cellulomonas uda) in enhancing nitrogen-fixing A. lipoferum Sl, they were grown in mixed and pure cultures on cellulose and organic manure A. Growth and nitrogenase activity were stimulated in mixed cultures, different with cellulose and organic manure A.
