Abstract

It is not uncommon to find diverticula in a cancerous esophagus, and in such cases it is obviously not possible to speak of malignant change (Figs. 1, 2). On the other hand, cases where the two processes may be causally linked are extremely rare and out of 221 diverticula resected, this possibility was considered on only two occasions: once at midthoracic level and once with an epiphrenic diverticulum (Figs. 3,4).
