Zusammenfassung
Wundheilung ist ein Prozeß des gefößhaltigen Bindegewebes, der durch mechanische (operative), physikalische, thermische und chemische Gewebsschädigungen ausgelöst wird. Lokalisation, Art und Ausmaß dieser Schädigung bestimmen alle Phasen des Wundheilungsablaufes. Die Wundsetzung zerstört die Kontinuität intakter Gewebsstrukturen. Oberflächliche Wundsetzungen können ohne wesentliche morphologisch nachweisbare Folgen abheilen. In der Regel fuhren Wundsetzungen zu Nekrosen der betroffenen Zellverbände und ihrer Zwischensubstanzen, die resorbiert und repariert werden, zumeist mit Narbenbildungen bei Verletzungen bindegewebiger und parenchymatöser Organe, wenn deren normale Ausgangsstruktur nicht wiederhergestellt werden kann. Das gilt für die Haut (z. B. keine oder nur unzureichende Reparation der Hautanhangsgebilde, der cutanen und subcutanen Strukturen etc.) wie für Schleimhäute (z. B. des Gastrointestinal-, Respirations-, Urogenitaltraktes u. a.) und insbesondere für Parenchymwunden und -schäden (Leber, Niere, Herz, Gehirn u. a.). Obligat postmitotische Zellen sind nicht ersetzbar, fakultativ postmitotische Zellen nur unvollständig, wenn ihr Ansatz-Grundgerüst zerstört ist (z. B.: an der Leber). Im Rahmen der bisher am meisten untersuchten Wundheilung der Haut können abhängig von verschiedenen Faktoren reife oder hypertrophe Narben, aber auch Keloide entstehen.
