Abstract
The preparations for arthroscopy are not limited to correct positioning of the patient on the operating table and draping. The requisite nonsterile accessory equipment as well as the actual arthroscopy instruments with the attachments to the nonsterile parts are arranged around the operating table. The prepared sterile table for the arthroscopy equipment is placed on the side of the knee to be operated on. Those instruments that may be required for the particular type of investigation and operation are placed here ready for use, always including the outer tube with its obturator and the arthroscope. Sterile hoses for filling the joint with gas or fluid are attached to the appropriate accessory apparatus. Likewise, after attachment to the arthroscope, the light cable is connected to the light source, which is located behind the surgeon.
