Abstract

Careful irrigation of the knee joint is necessary after completion of the arthroscopic operation, despite intermittent suction of the detached fragments of meniscus or articular cartilage, to wash out residual fragments under pressure. For this, 60–80 ml of normal saline or Ringer solution is injected under pressure through the outer tube of the arth-roscope using a 100-ml syringe with a conical attachment and is then discharged through the same tube into a vessel (Fig. 222).
