While calcium antagonists have been employed in the treatment of heart and vascular diseases for some years now, the influence this group of substances has on the kidney — that is, on the renal cell, the blood flow, and finally the functioning of the organ — has received little attention. In recent years different groups have investigated the effect of calcium antagonists on the handling of calcium by renal cells or on renal function.
