Abstract

The following aspects of organic nitrate pharmacology will be dealt with in this contribution:
  1. 1.

    The mechanism of vasodilation and a hypothesis for the mechanism of tolerance development

     
  2. 2.

    Whether there is a general correlation between pharmacokinetics (denitration), and pharmacodynamics (relaxation of vascular smooth muscle), of organic nitrates

     
  3. 3.

    The dose — response curve of isosorbide 5-mononitrate (IS-5-MN) in a conscious dog model of coronary heart disease
